Flour Cookie
While watching Elif, I came up with this name. 😅 Can you believe it? I stood for 45 minutes, kneading the dough for flour cookies by hand. I tried to use the KitchenAid, but it said “No!” Kneading by hand has a different feeling, and I agree with that. I’m leaving you with this recipe that’s easy to write but hard to make. Good luck to everyone!
- 4 cups of flour
- 1 tea glass of powdered sugar
- 250 grams of butter
- 2 pieces of mastic
- 1 teaspoon of granulated sugar
For decoration:
- Powdered sugar
We sifted four cups of flour and one tea glass of powdered sugar into a mixing bowl. Without letting the butter sit outside, we added the butter straight from the fridge, and Elif’s 20-minute kneading marathon began. First, she gently melted the butter with the warmth of her hands. Then, she combined the crumbly, flour-dusted dough and kneaded it until it came together. At this stage, I placed two pieces of mastic and one teaspoon of granulated sugar into a mortar and ground the mastic until it was completely crushed and disappeared. We then added this mixture into the dough and kneaded it once more. After ensuring the texture was just right, we rolled the dough into balls with our hands and shaped them, placing them one by one onto a baking tray lined with parchment paper. We set the oven to 160°C and baked the cookies for about 15 minutes. Before the cookies turned pink, we took them out of the oven and sprinkled powdered sugar on top.
We ended up with wonderfully crumbly cookies that paired perfectly with our brewed tea after the meal. Well done, @elifyirmibesoglu! 😍
